Review of Anjappar Restuarant in Lulu Mall

Decided to give a try on sumptuous dishes of world renowned Anjappar restaurant, in its first outlet of Kerala located in Lulu Mall. The restaurant is famous for Chettinad cuisine from Tamil Nadu, a prized cuisine evolved by the Chettiars several centuries ago.

They have tried hard to combine tradition and technology which makes the restaurant unique. They hit the right note by providing perfect blend of music and lighting. This is further buttressed by service from Tamil staffs which gives us a feel of Chettinad. The condition of Food Menu clearly implies that they have turned blind eye towards it. Tabs are used for taking orders which are linked directly with Kitchen and billing section thus keeping these under a single umbrella to bring transparency in the service.

We ordered Ghee rice, Appam both plain and egg, Anjappar Special Chicken Masala and Coffee. Plain Appam was utter disappointment. Chicken Masala is worth the money and is unique with its masala flavour. For the toothsome Coffee we had to pay through the nose. Overall restaurant is recommended for those with deep pockets and for those who want to try the real Chettinad flavour.

Water Wars…

Water wars are no more a hypothesis with the dilution of Indus water treaty by India shaping the course. The decade old treaty inter-mediated by world bank has survived several wars partly due to the liberal and defensive foreign policies of India, which in turn made India the receiving end of the cross border terrorism. Though the immediate cause was Uri attack which resulted in the death of our 18 brave soldiers, it may be regarded as the impact of Doval doctrine. Recent references of human rights violations in Baluchistan during independence speech and later in U.N. underscore the point. Perfect reply to the nation which has made bogus claims for generations.

Emergencies in India…

Indian Constitution empowers the nation with three types of emergencies- National, State and Financial one. This provision mentioned in the articles from 352 to 360 in a way demolishes the federal structure and turn it to unitary Form of government.

When we peep back to the history since independence, three times the emergencies were imposed. First one under Nehru because of the surprise attack from China though for a short period. This was further prolonged as a result of  Pakistan war in 1965 which was ended in 1968, thus extending the emergency period to 7 years.

The latter two emergencies were imposed under the leadership of Indira Gandhi. Here the national emergency was imposed because of the war with China for Bangladesh liberation. The third and controversial one was imposed due to the internal disturbance from 1975 till 1977. This was ended with Indira Gandhi losing the elections. Hereafter Janatha Party in power made amendments to revive the basic structure of constitution.

The third one called financial emergency was never declared though India was in financial crisis during 1991. The nation was saved from the crisis by the minority government of Narasihma Rao along with then finance minister Manmohan Singh.

A Million Dollar to save three whales!!!

A number of military operations have taken place around the world ever since the inception of concept of nationalism in the world. Some were against terrorism likewise operation Bluestar, some against colonialism like Operation Vijay, some against a nation like operation protective edge .

An important millitary operation initiated in 1988 unlike the above was operation breakthrough. The motive of operation was to save three grey whales which were trapped inside ice pack in the US state of Alaska. This mission was initiated by US and a NGO Greenpeace which was ultimately buttressed by the efforts from Russia whose icebreaker ship broke the ice to save these endangered species and ultimately united the then bipolar world of cold war era. Although the operation was criticized by scientists as it thrown away about 1 million US dollars to inhibit a natural process, it in a way united bipolar world during the cold war and changed the attitude of people towards animals.

Elon Musk and Apple

The calamitous crash of Apple stocks have bought the Apple inc. in a pickle. The whole world expects this to be the last straw but Unless vital measures are taken, the fate similar to that of companies like HP is foreseen. Recently launched  iPhone 6S is nowhere near the benchmark set by Jobs and the existence of the most valued company now relies totally on its future products. While people having 6s in their hand will consider for an upgrade to much awaited iPhone 7 only if there is something more than ordinary in it.
It is always difficult to follow the argot of the high level persons though it is clear as black and white that Tim cook having a impeccable career record has failed to take forward the glory Apple enjoyed under STEVE JOBS. The time since Steve jobs stepped down from the Apple, the company was riding on the tone set by the jobs.  May be now Apple needs a CEO like Elon musk, a living iron man.
Elon Musk, founder of Paypal and zip2 is now taking two most accredited companies in his shoulders. The time when invention is limited to ‘e world’ like Facebook instagram, he is making revolutions reminding us that we still are living in a primitive should open discoveries. While space X is seeking for a Mars colony which till then was limited to Hollywood movies,Tesla has become the renaissance for the already dead automobile industry. He is now in the path of inventing hyper-loop an alternative to the traditional Concept of train. Its no wonder that he is called the real iron man who is the saver for the world.
Most of us hope Elon musk to be the CEO of the Apple. But for him there is something more than smartphone business and believe me he won’t come empty handed.

Elections….

In Kerala, this is election time, reminding us to be living in democratic and federal country. This is the time when we the citizens of this largest democracy realises the power in hand in the form of vote, a weapon to be utilized during election.
Here we may witness a third national political party in the assembly in the form of BJP. The political parties are playing hate politics against BJP, may be due to the fear of a third opponent which may turn future elections triangular. This can be corroborated by recent incidents like how the parties making mountain out of a mole hill with a term Somalia used by PM during the campaign.
Anyway elections are over and for a lion’s share of people this new entry is a ray of hope for the future of the state and ultimately end this binary nature of the Kerala politics.

A Real Life Experience through book…

Book Name: The Stolen Dog

Author: Tricia O’Malley

Man is an animal and so are dogs. But the real world is different and dogs are in no way comparable to men. Personally I don’t dislike dogs and neither do I hate though I did like the book. The obvious question WHY is what I’m trying to answer here.
The book revolves around a dog named Briggs who was stolen and how the family broke back of the beast to bring back the dog. The hunt was buttressed by some from her friend’s circle and some were bolts from the blue. The book ends with the dog returning home, a happy ending.
Yes, its a typical story but the point that it’s a real time incident makes the plot unique. Frankly I wouldn’t have replicated what they have done, if I were on their shoes. What a normal family would have done for a human being, they were doing for a dog typically pointing the eminent position the dog holds in their life.
This is not a book for those who love dogs but for those who care for others, irrespective of whether it is an animal or human being. As always hero and villain are those who exists among us and dog was just a cause for them to take sides.
